Mayor and Council Nominations
If you are interested in running for the office of Mayor or Council stop by Town Hall to file a certificate for nomination. Upon filing for nomination, you must file a financial disclosure. The filing fee is $20.00 for Mayor and $10.00 for Council. You must have resided in the town for at least one year immediately preceding the election on May 13, 2014 and must be a qualified voter of the town. Prescription Drug Take Back Day Event
The Smithsburg Police Department will be holding a Prescription Drug Take Back Day Event on Saturday, April 26, 2014. The Smithsburg Police Department lobby located at 21 W. Water Street will be open from 9AM until 12 NOON for anyone to turn in all unwanted prescription drugs. Read more

Weather permitting, the Public Works Department will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the town starting on Monday, April 21st through Thursday, April 24th from 8:00 P.M. until ???

Yard Waste will be picked up the 3rd Wednesday starting April 16, 2014.
Dates for Pick Up: April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19, December 17 (last pickup).

Deliquent Real Estate Taxes
Any Real Estate Taxes that have not been paid by March 1st will be subject to tax sale proceeding. Letters will be mailed to those property owners advising them that taxes must be paid by March 31st.
