Calls for Service

The Smithsburg Police Department receives its calls for service via the Washington County 911 Center. If you are in need of any type of police service no matter the time of day or night, please dial 911 and a call taker will direct your call to the proper police agency. An officer will respond to handle your call for service. If your request is purely administrative or you have a question you may call our administrative number at 301-824-3500.

Water and Sewer Bills

Your quarterly water and sewer bill will be mailed out on June 30, 2015.  This bill will be mailed in a white business envelope marked "bill enclosed".  Enclosed will be a Mayor and Council letter explaining the increases on your water bill that will be effective July 1, 2015.  The 2014 City of Hagerstown Water Dept. Town Real Estate Taxes 2015/2016

Real estate town tax bills for Fiscal Year 2015/2016.

If your town taxes are being escrowed by your bank or mortgage company, the procedure is as follows:

Your bank/mortgage will mail the town office a notice requesting your tax bill. The Town Office will mail your tax bill directly to your mortgage company for payment. The property owner will not receive a copy of their tax bill.

Yardwaste collected on 3rd Wednesday (April - December)

Effective April, 2015:

Dates for Pick-up:

  • July 15
  • August 19
  • September 16
  • October 21
  • November 18
  • December 16 (last pickup)

Please be sure to set your yard waste out the night before (Tuesday) as they collect very early in the morning.
