Fire Hydrant Flushing Schedule 2013
Spring Hydrant Flushing: Monday, April 22 - Thursday, April 25 (8pm - until?)
Fall Hydrant Flushing: Monday, October 7 - Thursday, October 10 (8pm - until?)
Weather permitting, the Public Works Department will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the town starting at 8:00 P.M. until ???
The schedule is as follows:
- Monday: West Water Street , East Water Street, Mountain Shadows, Pioneer Drive, Civic Circle, Berry Circle, and Cavetown Church Road. 26 Hydrants.
- Tuesday: South Main Street, North Main Street, Johnson Terrace, Blue Mountain Estates, Washington Court, Cloverly Farm Lane, Smithsburg Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. 19 Hydrants.
- Wednesday: Pennsylvania Ave., Bradbury Ave., Hwy 64, Bikle Road, Maple Ave., and Chips Meadow. 18 Hydrants.
- Thursday: Whispering Hills, Grove Creek, and Cavehill Road. 46 Hydrants.
Water customers in these areas are cautioned to continually check their water for rusty or cloudy water which may occur because of this work. It is strongly recommended that you do
NOT use your washing machines during the times of hydrant flushing. After the flushing is completed for the day, running your water for a couple of minutes should clear up any rust or cloudy water encountered.
Water pressure may temporarily drop in areas while hydrants are being flushed.
